The National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN) was established by Decree-Law No. 82 of 14 June 2021, which redefined the national cybersecurity architecture, aiming to rationalise and simplify the system, enhancing the aspects of cybersecurity and resilience.
The National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN) is the national cybersecurity authority for the protection of national interests in the field of cybersecurity. The Agency is responsible for safeguarding security and resilience in cyberspace. It is responsible for preventing and mitigating as many cyber attacks as possible, and for promoting the achievement of technological autonomy. Among the Agency’s main tasks is the implementation of the National Cybersecurity Strategy, adopted by the President of the Council of Ministers, which contains the goals to be pursued by 2026.
Cyber Innovation Network
The programme is a multi-year strategic implementation initiative, in line with the powers assigned to the National Cybersecurity Agency by Decree-Law No. 82 of 14 June 2021, aimed at supporting and stimulating technological development and innovation in the cybersecurity sector.
In this context, the Agency aims to promote the growth of industrial, technological and scientific skills and capabilities related to cybersecurity, including through the involvement of the national production system. To this end, the Cyber Innovation Network aims to support the creation and growth of start-ups, as well as to facilitate the transfer and exploitation of applied research results.
The Cyber Innovation Network is therefore the reference programme for collaboration and integration between the Agency and the national research, innovation and industry ecosystem.
